When did your love of STEM begin?

I discovered my love for STEM in Grade 9. I loved my mathematics and physics courses, but most importantly I was motivated by my high school teachers to solve problems and think outside the box, while applying the laws of physics. The curiosity of how things work and how they are made has always been in me. My curiosity, combined with the passion for aviation, got me hooked with Engineering, making it an easy field of choice.

What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?

The immense pool of opportunities, talent and experience. The best part of my job in the Aerospace Engineering field is that every day there is something new to learn, whether it is a part in the aircraft, aviation operations or just working with airlines around the world. I enjoy meeting people with so much knowledge and experience, who are ready to help and teach. It is fascinating to learn the different paths that they took to get to where they are.

What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?

Go for it! There is nothing you can't do with hard work, dedication and a little bit of love. A career in STEM is the key that opens the door to many opportunities and it provides you with the right set of tools to become successful.
