When did your love of STEM begin?
I am amazed that my love for technology and electronics at an early age, lead me to a rewarding career in electrical engineering. My curiosity and desire to understand how things worked allowed my interest in STEM to flourish.
What did you love most about study in your field of STEM?
I have been blessed with an amazing family and a rewarding career in STEM. I am able to use my privilege and knowledge to help and inspire others. I love the increase of dynamic organizations in STEM and an overall growth in corporate culture. Workplaces encourage equity, diversity and inclusion. Men have become allies. Women are supported and promoted! An added bonus of working in STEM is meeting inspirational people and making lifelong friends! A majority of my closest friends work in STEM.
What advice would you give to young women considering a career in STEM?
Believe in yourself and be authentically you! Sign up for Camp Engies! I founded Camp Engies, a two-day one-night experience, to promote engineering to young girls to increase the percentage of women in engineering. This allows our girls to connect with like-minded individuals, hear from role-models, and find a lifelong mentor. Remember, a career in STEM has endless possibilities!
