Hacker Gal

Hackergal is on a mission to champion middle school girls across Canada to explore the possibilities in code, empowering a curious and powerful group of next generation female developers and tech leaders. Partnering with school boards across Canada, Hackergal provides educators with the learning tools and coding platform they need to facilitate coding lessons and host an all-girls hackathon in their own school!

Girls Who Code

Girls Who Code is a nonprofit organization which aims to support and increase the number of women in computer science. The organization is working to close the gender employment difference in technology and change the image of what a programmer looks like.

Ontario Network of Women in Engineering

The Ontario Network of Women in Engineering (ONWiE) was formed in 2005 between all the schools and faculties of engineering across Ontario. The objective of this network is to work collaboratively to support current female engineers, students, and encourage the next generation of women to pursue careers in engineering.

Women in Aerospace Canada (WIA)

Women in Aerospace Canada (WIA-Canada) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to expanding women’s opportunities for leadership and professional development as well as increasing their visibility in the aerospace community by creating a professional network in Canada and across the globe. The mission of this organization is to Promote, Network, Educate, and Develop women in the aerospace field.

STEM Kids Rock

STEM Kids Rock, a not for profit organization whose mission is to inspire, engage and empower the next generation of STEM leaders! STEM Kids Rock, simply put, is a FREE Mobile Science Centre that goes out into communities in hopes of reaching elementary aged children and inspiring them to fall in love with science. STEM Kids Rock was co-founded by Aidan Aird and Keeley Aird.

Build a Dream

Our research shows that female students often overlook male-dominated careers simply due to a lack of awareness when planning for their future. Build a Dream spotlights exciting career opportunities that fall under five pillars: skilled trades, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), emergency response, entrepreneurship, and advancing women in society.

Girls Inc. of Durham

At the heart of what we do Girls Inc. offers eight signature programs designed just for girls. Girls Inc. is focused on: body image & self-esteem; violence & bullying prevention; leadership & community action; math, science & technology; healthy sexuality & relationships; peer pressure; substance use prevention; media literacy; financial literacy; physical activity & sports participation; and literacy & reading enrichment.

The Math Guru

Founded by Vanessa Vakharia (a See it Be it STEM it role model), The Math Gurut serves as a space for students to look at math & science from a different perspective, and to approach all areas of education and knowledge from a different perspective.

Life Gears

Life Gears Academy is an organization that offers programs in various locations that provide youth with skills in exploratory environments in the form of camps and after-school programs. These programs will work to teach various life skills including leadership, problem solving and mindfulness through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) based activities.

Math Hacks

Written by Vanessa Vakhaira, Math Hacks was created to address the math that kids report they have the most difficulty understanding.

The recommended Grade 3-6 level is just a general guideline. Everyone can use this book – even grownups!

HeForShe

HeForShe is a solidarity campaign for the advancement of gender equality, initiated by UN. Its goal is to achieve equality by encouraging both genders to partake as agents of change and take action against negative stereotypes and behaviors, faced by people with feminine personalities/genders.
