When did your love of STEM begin?

My love of STEM started at a very young age - my family has always practiced sustainability, and everyone had to possess a level of self-sufficiency. We had limited resources, and you sometimes had to figure out things on your own, and sometimes even come up with creative solutions (there weren't internet instructional videos!). I've always enjoyed solving problems and helping others - a great combination for aspiring engineers!

What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?

Definitely the people - I have had the pleasure of meeting some of the most wonderful people in my studies, work and volunteering. My work in STEM has allowed me to live my dream of making the world a better place, and it has allowed me to work in amazing teams with the goal of helping others. It is just so very rewarding - there are no words.

What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?

Go for it! Be bold. Be courageous. Be STEM-tacular!

“This is when I visited the Grand Canyon and was fortunate enough to watch the sun set. It’s truly one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.”
