What is the bravest thing that you have done?

The bravest thing I’ve done is putting myself in situations that may be difficult or takes me out of my comfort zone. So even if something seems scary I know in the end it’ll all be worth it. Like leaving a job I was comfortable with to pursue a passion or backcountry camping in the middle of no where to participating in a marathon.

What makes you feel confident?

Wearing the clothes I make. Regardless of how well they turn out I always feel confident and proud of wearing something I’ve built.

Why do you think that it is important to encourage young women to explore an education or career in STEM?

I think it’s important to encourage young women to pursue STEM because for girls, at least in my case, STEM was never an option brought to my attention. GIS is a rewarding career that caters to a multitude of disciplines and when we introduce it to people that never thought of it in the first place great things can come from it.

“This is me when I was in army cadets. I loved cadets; it’s where I was able to learn new skills like mapping, outdoor survival and leadership. It’s a part of my life that really shaped who I am today.”
