When did your love of STEM begin?

I would say my love of STEM began when I was probably a little girl, I was very school driven. Hence why I've done graduate schooling. I've been at the University of Guelph for 11 years now. So so as a young girl I love the sciences. I originally was going to be a vet but changed directions and got into the dairy industry.

What did you love most about study in your field of STEM?

What I love about studying STEM is that there is just so many possibilities there is no one answer. I did my Ph.D. in Dairy Cattle Nutrition and Metabolism, and there is no one answer. There are so many different directions and it's just such a wide discipline that you'll always be working on it and you'll find answers but you'll always be driving to discover more.

What advice would you give to young women considering a career in STEM?

My advice to a young woman considering a career in STEM would be to work hard. Work ethic is a huge thing especially when you get into Sciences, Technology, Engineering ,and Mathematics. It's a lot of hard work, but if you have the drive and you have the desire to you can.
