Meet Ashley Lebel
Ashley completed her education as a Biotechnology Technologist at Loyalist College, Ashley now serves as a Process Technologist at Worley, where she plays a direct role in shaping future technology.
A fun fact about Ashley is her certification as a yoga instructor. In her current role, she promotes wellness among her co-workers by encouraging stretching and movement, recognizing that change is the only constant, both in her yoga practice and in the dynamic world of STEM.
In her free time she enjoys video games, reading, puzzles and playing sports. My favorite sports are softball and ultimate frisbee.
When did your love of STEM begin?
My love for STEM started in high school, Grade 11 Biology to be specific. Learning the fundamentals was so intriguing, dissecting a pig in biology was very hands on and fun!
What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?
The best part about working in the field of STEM is that you have a direct role in shaping the technology for the future. Research and development can be so rewarding when a project or process has a break through and can be manufactured for a better tomorrow.
What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?
My advice would be to never give up! If you have a passion for STEM, don't let anyone discourage you. Working in a male dominated field can be challenging at times, but it is 2024, the traditional gender roles are expired! The only way that we can continue to grow and learn is to have more equality in the world of STEM.
