When did your love of STEM begin?
My love of STEM began when I was really young, as I had fantastic role models in the STEM field growing up. My dad is an Electrical Engineer who always encouraged me to excel at Math and Dcience, and my Mom is a Mathematician who taught me to do what I love and follow my passions, not what everyone else was passionate about. Having influential role models in my life is extremely important and my parents sparked my love of STEM and encouraged me to always be curious and creative.
What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?
The best part about working in the field of STEM is that Science, Technology, Engineering and Math are all interconnected and through working in Engineering there is always a opportunity to learn about all branches of STEM. I also really enjoy that the STEM fields are actively changing with advancements in technology which keeps the jobs diverse.
What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?
Pursue the things that you are passionate about and don't follow others. Throughout my education and early part of my career I have learned that there are no easy paths or areas of study, everything takes time and effort so choose the things that spark creativity to you. Also, always stay true to yourself and be confident if you continue to "fake it till you make it" eventually you will make it and achieve your goals.
