Meet Erica Attard

Erica is part of the Ryerson Formula Racing team!

Erica Attard graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Ryerson University in 2022. She is currently the Team Captain and Engineering Lead with Ryerson Formula Racing. In her spare time, Erica enjoys baking, finding creative solutions to complex problems, is passionate about mathematics and mechanical design and analysis.

When did your love of STEM begin?

I found a passion for STEM in high school due to my love of math. It was always my favorite subject and was a subject I excelled in. It wasn't until university where I found out about all the amazing opportunities STEM has to offer. This is when I truly fell in love with learning and pursuing a career in STEM.

What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?

Everywhere you look in the field of STEM there is a new challenge that creates opportunities for growth and development. Being a part of a STEM field makes me feel like I have the ability and skills to learn anything I want.

What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?

There are thousands of opportunities in the STEM fields. Make sure to do your research and find a path that suits your passions and talents.

You can do anything in this field! Being a woman in STEM does not limit you. By you choosing a career in STEM, you are paving a way for generations of innovative and powerful women.
