When did your love of STEM begin?

My love of STEM began at home. Both of my parents were teachers and always encouraged our education and left the doors open for us to follow our passions and interests. I always enjoyed watching my father with his woodworking in the garage - the calculations, measurements, and the build were all of interest to me. I liked trying different machines, and even took a machine shop course. My favourite subjects in school were Math and Science, especially Physics. This coupled with my desire to have hands on experience led me to Mechanical Engineering.

What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?

I love working in STEM because I am challenged in a different way every day. I am able to use my skills and knowledge and grow and feel I am contributing to the company and automotive industry.

What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?

You will never be bored! The field of STEM is so broad there will be something you will find that you will love. You will be challenged, but also have the opportunity to learn and grow.
