When did your love of STEM begin?
My parents used to tell me that I was a very talkative child who was eager to learn more, which oftentimes led to them being bombarded by my numerous questions. Although they were proud, there were just so many questions that they could answer. But, as I was growing, science and maths always seemed to have answers for my younger self. The thirst for curiosity was drenched with the facts and logic. There was a time when I would spend day and night studying to learn everything possible in the field of science and technology which included participating in science fairs and competing in quizzes. This interest helped me to graduate with a degree in Food Technology and complete my Master's in Biological Engineering.
What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?
Every day is a new challenge working in the field of science and technology. Being a Food Engineer and working as a Regulatory Administrator gives me such a great feeling as I am a part of the food research and development which ensures sufficient, safe, and nutritious food for a balanced, healthy, and active lifestyle. STEM has always helped me to keep up with this passion and enthusiasm in this field. During the time of COVID-19, the dire need for food maintenance and supply was seen by many in the world. My role as a food technologist became essential to the continuation of the food supply chain and bringing a positive impact in the field of STEM.
