When did your love of STEM begin?

It started with going to the Outer Banks in North Carolina every summer with my extended family, and learning about the ocean. I was especially interested in Whales and Dolphins and becoming a marine biologist through most of my childhood.

What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?

I love the feeling of accomplishment you get from persevering through something challenging. I really enjoy understanding the world around me and how things work. Finally, I think the best part are the skills you gain from studying and working in STEM, like communication, critical thinking and most of all problem solving.

What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?

Never be afraid of pursuing your interests because someone tells you it is going to be hard.
