When did your love of STEM begin?
My love of STEM began at very young age (around 5) when I used to live in the housing complex at a oil & gas refinery, where my dad used to work!
What did you love most about study in your field of STEM?
The products and services you get involved with have a direct impact on betterment of society. For example, I was working at a nuclear power plant for >20 years producing electricity for millions of people's homes, schools, hospitals and businesses. This is very satisfying.
What advice would you give to young women considering a career in STEM?
Don't let your fear of STEM or not knowing what to do with your STEM degree stop you from pursuing it. STEM studies gives you the knowledge and confidence you need to pursue a satisfying career in a wide range of industries. Most importantly don't let someone else's opinion of the STEM field dissuade you from pursuing it. I was told that Engineering is for boys/men and that because it is male-dominated industry, I would not like it. That statement could not have been further from the truth. My Engineering degree has given me opportunities to work in areas where only select few ever get to work on and has provided a very comfortable standard of living for myself and my family.
