When did your love of STEM begin?
My passion for STEM was developed particularly as a student in at the Ontario Science Center Science School, where I had the opportunity to learn from some of the smartest and kindest women I've had the opportunity to meet. During this term of high school, I realized that society as a whole benefits when women are welcomed and valued in STEM.
What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?
The best part of working in STEM is that we're constantly in the realm of discovery. There is so much that we don't yet understand and much of the R&D I do is within this area of unknown. This means every day is filled with possibilities and new discoveries!
What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?
My advice to young women interested in persuing a career in STEM is to remember that you deserve to be there and to seek out likeminded women. People from every direction will try to make you feel like you don't have any right to be there, but you do. It's important to have a support sytem to remind you of that!
