When did your love of STEM begin?
My love of STEM began with my dad. I went into math because I have always been interested in knowing everything about a problem before moving on to another one. The idea of starting my education in math provided me with the opportunity to build a basis of knowledge before going to pursue my developed passions. I believe that life is all about balance and my father showed me that you can be interested in super intricate science and engineering problems all the while being interested and loving things completely unrelated to STEM!
What did you love most about study in your field of STEM?
The best part about working in the STEM field for me is the people you encounter. I am so fascinated by people in general, and to be able to surround myself by inspirational and motivated people all the time is truly a blessing. I love hearing about the passions of others and learning about problems and solutions from those who I work with is my IDEAL learning environment.
What advice would you give to young women considering a career in STEM?
The advice I would give is that even if a small fraction of you wants to pursue a career in STEM, it is worth a shot. The opportunities it gives you and the tools it instills in you which can be applied to all aspects of your life are truly unmatched by any other field. Not to mention after undergoing the stress of an engineering degree, you are set up to tackle any other challenges in your life with confidence and fearlessness!
