When did your love of STEM begin?
My love of STEM began when I was a kid. My dad is a geologist and my mom is a teacher and they have always been big believers in women being in science and technology. Growing up, I've never felt any difference between myself and my brothers. I believe that helped a lot.
What did you love most about study in your field of STEM?
What I love the most about STEM is the curiosity and the fact that you can always learn something. With geology for example, nature is all experience. There's only so much you can learn through books and when you go out in the field as part of your study, you see something different. What I really like about working in the field of STEM and specifically now that I work in technology, is how dynamic and fast paced it is and how much it's touching everybody's life. We hope to be part of something that will positively impact the world.
What advice would you give to young women considering a career in STEM?
It's really interesting and there's a lot of opportunities out there. It also requires hard work and you need to be curious and on top of things that are changing all the time. So it's a little bit challenging from that perspective as you need to be engaged and aware of what’s happening in the industry if you want to be successful. But most importantly, go after your heart; be ready for the challenges and doubts, take on those challenges, and prove to everyone, especially yourself, that you're amazing!
