When did your love of STEM begin?
I think my love of STEM began not consciously for a while but unconsciously ever since I was little. It was really important to me when I had teachers that encouraged me to do well in math, especially as a student who was into that great at math and got terrible marks. So just encouragement and knowing that people thought this was important and that I could do it really made me believe that STEM was really important to understand.
What did you love most about study in your field of STEM?
What I love about studying STEM or STEM related topics is that I don't know anything, and it's such a challenge to learn. It's such a challenge to go through the information and truly understand it. It takes hours and hours to understand the first paragraph in a research paper. And I really love putting myself in a challenge because at the end I know that I did something that really elevated my knowledge and made me a better person.
What advice would you give to young women considering a career in STEM?
To young women interested in STEM. I would say be passionate about your ideas. They matter. Be passionate about your values. They matter. And know that you can do this that when you're speaking in a room full of people we hear you and that we're there for you.
“My dream job would be with a company that's impacting millions of people …that could be with any occupation and with any career, as long as I know that my job and my work and the things that I'm doing everyday are going to help people.”
