When did your love of STEM begin?
I remember my mom gifted me a small piano on my 10th birthday with an attached karaoke mic. I loved playing it all the time. However, what intrigued me more was how pressing one button could make such a pleasant sound, and how my voice was being amplified through the mic. I opened the piano to understand its mechanics and was surprised to see all the resistors and diodes coupled together. That is how my love for STEM began. However, I can also say it is how the destruction of my house began, since I started opening all the equipment to understand how each one worked. Many of these were difficult to put back together!
What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?
The best part about STEM is there is so much to learn everyday! We have the potential to bring about so many changes that could help society as a whole. I like to find answers, to find the root cause to a certain situation and to work with the team where everyone has a different perspective about the problem.
What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM? My only advice to young women interested in STEM would be, “Don't let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do. Go for it and never doubt yourself”.
