When did your love of STEM begin?

I don't have a eureka moment, but I've always like animals. I remember borrowing books and videos about them from the library when I was in elementary school.

I had aspirations of medical school early on, but shifted to zoology once I got to university. Animals are more interesting than people, and basic research is way more fun.

What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?

The flexibility, both in academia and as a freelance writer. I get to try a lot of different things. Sometime's it's overwhelming and hectic, but it's always exciting.

What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?

There will be times when you feel like you don't belong, or that you're being ignored. Remember that you belong here, just as much as anyone else.
