When did your love of STEM begin?
I competed in my high school's robotics team for 3 years, my role was to construct the robots. In 2016, I graduated and decided to study machines in college. After four years of working and taking night classes I was able to become a Machinist.
Last year, I moved to BC to start an apprenticeship in construction as a Sheet Metal Worker.
What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?
The best thing about my work is that we see everything we make. I have worked in a few trade industry automotive, automation, manufacturing and construction. What I enjoy the most is sharing my story with students at conference and events.
What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?
Don't be scared to try new things. Stop fearing changing, change is inevitable. Don't be scared of failure, it helps us grow as individual.
