Meet Emily Deibert

Emily Deibert graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Astronomy & Astrophysics/English/Mathematics from the University of Toronto (Victoria College) in 2017. She is currently a PhD Candidate in Astronomy & Astrophysics at the University of Toronto. In her free time, Emily enjoys reading, writing, biking, skating, hiking

When did your love of STEM begin?

I actually wasn't very interested in STEM growing up, because I didn't have many role models in the field and didn't feel like it was for me. However, after taking an introductory astronomy course in my first year of university to satisfy my science requirement, I became immediately fascinated with the field and decided it was something I wanted to pursue.

What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?

I love having the chance to collaborate with people around the world.

What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?

Never forget that you belong!
