Meet Gayathri Shukla

Gayathri Shukla graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Calgary. She currently works as the Manager of Digital Strategy and Programs at Suncor. In her spare time, Gayathri likes to work on her platform Campfire Kinship, where she is able to shine a light on diverse role models in STEM fields through storytelling.

When did your love of STEM begin?

As a young student in engineering I moved up to Fort McMurray and started working in a hands-on operating facility- I loved to see how theory got applied and the value it has to ensure safety and reliable operations!

What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?

Follow your intuition - do not let other people's biases or stereotypes cloud your judgement!
