Meet Helena Kunic
Helena Kunic is currently pursuing her Honours Bachelor of Engineering, Biomedical Engineering degree at the University of Guelph, where she is also completing her coop as an Instructional and Technical Support Assistant. In her spare time, Helena also likes to play soccer, paint, and solve puzzles.
When did your love of STEM begin?
My love of STEM began from watching all sorts of documentaries on the environment, scientists and their discoveries, and the future of science and medicine. I have always enjoyed science and math classes and watching those documentaries made me want to pursue a degree in a STEM field.
What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?
The best part about working in the field of STEM is knowing that the work you are contributing to will change the world for the better. Working in STEM can be challenging at times, but finding a solution to a tough problem is incredibly rewarding.
What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?
You can do what you put your mind to! There are going to be setbacks and problems you have to face, but if you love what you do and dedicate yourself, you will overcome them.
