When did your love of STEM begin?
When I was about 10. I really enjoyed my science classes and learning about the physical world around me. I liked having an explanation and learning theories for what I could see around me, and found it interesting and wanted to learn more.
What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?
I enjoy the opportunity to immediately see my work in action. As soon as a piece of software I've worked on is released, I can see it making a difference and in use. I like to see that I helped improve efficiencies or automate a process. It feels rewarding to accomplish that for me.
What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?
I would encourage young women to always follow their interests. Even if you seem like or feel like the most inexperienced in a room, you can and should keep learning. Never let that keep you back from pursuing your passion. Don't underestimate your ability to learn.
