When did your love of STEM begin?

Freshman year of High school, when I started at the Pre-Engineering Magnet school in my hometown of El Paso, TX! I have been in engineering for 11/25 years of my life!

What did you love most about study in your field of STEM?

Being able to solve the tough problems. That moment when the solution clicks, it’s the best feeling in the world to be able to fix something or make a process easier.

What advice would you give to young women considering a career in STEM?

Comparison is the thief of joy. Never compare yourself to your peers, and always focus on yourself and self improvement. Look at yourself weekly and think of ways of how you could have handled problems or scenarios differently, but never get down on yourself because you perceive someone to be doing better.
