When did your love of STEM begin?

My love of STEM began during the final year of high school, when I was first introduced to calculus and algebra. My sister (who graduated in electrical engineering), and I would compete who would solve a differential equation faster. I felt a huge sense of accomplishment when I could solve a differential equation and realized then that I would want to immerse myself in subjects that would incorporate math.

What did you love most about study in your field of STEM?

You're challenged on a daily basis and you never stop learning. The best part about working in the field of STEM is that you're continually evolving and learning new tools, databases, concepts, solutions. There is so much potential to expand your knowledge and with the rapid advancements in tech, there's no better time to be at the forefront of this evolution.

What advice would you give to young women considering a career in STEM?

Be persistent. Don't be afraid to solicit help from math and science high school teachers if you're not completely understanding something. Believe in yourself and know that hard work trumps talent.
