When did your love of STEM begin?
My love of STEM started when I was very little. I was one of the girls who preferred to read books than to play with dolls or watch TV. I remember that I liked to assemble cars and read the great books my parents held in our library at home. This passion for STEM was even bigger at school when I loved to participate in projects where we launched experimental rockets and did experiments to create organic chemicals. My love of STEM continues becoming bigger everytime I start a new project which I give all my heart and passion to learn and serve to the world in human health.
What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?
I think the best part about working in the field of STEM is that you never know what you will learn every day. It is a very dynamic field where you create, learn about others, and learn about your own experiments as well. I find fascinating that STEM is a field where you can always learn and use your knowledge to teach others and serve the communities in so many aspects. In my case, I contribute to the worldwide scientific community with my findings in Alzheimer's disease and by creating new biomedical prototypes that could be the beginning for new medical devices that can save lives.
What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?
Be curious! Let yourself immersed in the STEM world and never stop asking! There are so many questions out there who need your women to solve to change the world, to have a better world.
