When did your love of STEM begin?
I've always loved STEM but I never thought I could do it. I though it would always be a side hobby. Until my junior year of high school I thought I'd go into journalism. When I found engineering and then got into a top engineering school, I decided to really chase my dreams.
What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?
Constantly being challenged but not frustrated. I love working on problems and gathering teams of people to help figure out the solution. That is exactly what engineers do! Building a STEM network of people to help me solve problems has been amazing.
What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?
Stop being focused on the negatives. There will always be draw backs and struggles, and there will always be a million reasons to not do it. Focus on your goals and surround yourself with supportive people who will help you meet them. The rest comes so easily.
